For the nearly 34 million Americans who are food insecure, summer can be a difficult time — especially for children, who may rely on free meals from school.
That’s why JM Family, the parent company of Southeast Toyota Finance, partnered with foodbanks in each of its business locations and raised $149,000, assembled 1,400 meal kits and sorted 35,000 pounds of food in June!
“Our unified effort maximized our impact and allowed us to make an even larger difference in the lives of those who need it most,” Lisa Davis, director for JM Family’s Community Impact division, said.

The key was teamwork — with a dash of healthy competition! 28 teams of six to eight associates from across JM Family’s multiple companies battled for points by completing food-themed activities and logging them in an app. The top six teams won gift cards as a prize. Each associate who donated $25 or more also received a free reusable grocery tote.
The donation goal for “Closing the Hunger Gap” was originally $100,000, but associates raised almost $50,000 more! That’s the dedication JM Family is known for.
