The Toyota Crown has a storied history in the American market, as it was the first Japanese car to reach our shores in 1958 and has always been known for its quality and sophistication.

After a 51-year hiatus, the U.S. was reintroduced to the Toyota Crown in 2023. And now, it has a new sibling — the 2025 Crown Signia SUV. The name Signia is taken from the word “insignia,” referencing a badge of rank and honor, thanks to Crown’s celebrated history ripe with innovation and quality.

Let’s take a tour of the model’s most notable features.

An exclusively hybrid powertrain

No matter which trim you choose, the 2025 Crown Signia is a hybrid — helping out both the environment and your wallet!

The vehicle is powered by a 2.5-L, four-cylinder engine with two electric motors. The engine delivers an impressive 243 combined net horsepower and 36 mpg.
Also standard is On-Demand All-Wheel Drive, which uses its own electric rear motor to power the back wheels when needed. The system automatically distributes power to ensure stability, from a 100:0 configuration for constant-speed driving to 20:80 for slippery conditions. The On-Demand AWD is also why the 2025 Crown Signia can tow up to 2,700 pounds!

While the torque distribution works invisibly, you can manually change up your drive with the help of three settings: NORMAL, ECO, SPORT and EV mode. NORMAL is great for everyday driving, while ECO conserves fuel and SPORT boosts the throttle response. EV mode lets you drive electric-only at low speeds for a short time.

A stylish exterior and comfortable interior

Thanks to Toyota’s thoughtful engineering, the 2024 Crown Signia offers a quiet, cozy and spacious cabin.

The 2025 Crown Signia’s modern exterior and comfy interior start with its frame: the Toyota New Global Architecture K platform. This build helps dim noise and reduce vibration in the cabin, making for a smoother drive.

On the outside, the 2025 Crown Signia has a wide stance and a Toyota Hammerhead front end, which pushes the headlights to the side to mimic a striking shark. Its flowing roofline leads to a geometric lower grille, and the body comes in five colors: Storm Cloud, Finish Line Red, Oxygen White, Black, and Bronze Age.

That style bleeds into the interior, with front seats featuring cradle-like side bolsters and lounge-style back seats. The Limited grade has leather-trimmed seats, while the XLE has fabric and SofTex®-trimmed seats. But no matter the trim, the 2025 Crown Signia always has 8-way driver and passenger power seats.

You have space to spare in the back, too. With its extension panel, the Crown Signia’s 60/40 second-row folding seats provide 6 and a half feet of cargo space!

On the dash, the 2025 Crown Signia has a standard 12.3-inch color multi Information Display and a 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia system. The multimedia system is intuitive and can receive updates Over-the-Air. It’s also compatible with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ and acts as a portal to all of Toyota’s Connected Services.

And how would you like heated and ventilated front seats or a fixed glass Panoramic Roof? The 2025 Crown Signia offers those creature comforts and more with different available packages.

Newest safety features

One of the most important features of any vehicle is its safety system — and the 2025 Crown Signia is equipped with Toyota’s latest and greatest.

Toyota Safety Sense™ (TSS) 3.0 is the newest incarnation of the system, which uses several cameras and sensors on the vehicle to monitor its surroundings. It has a new subsystem, Proactive Driving Assist, that helps drivers brake and steer in tricky situations. Other subsystems — like the Pre-Collision System, Road Sign Assist and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control — were also fine-tuned with new updates.

Those aren’t the 2025 Crown Signia’s only cameras, though. The Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert help you avoid getting too close to other cars. The Limited grade has an available digital rearview mirror with HomeLink® universal transceiver, providing a wide view of what’s behind your vehicle. It also has an available Panoramic View Monitor with 360-degree Overhead View and Curb View, making it easy to squeeze into tight spaces.

Finally, the Limited grade’s Advanced Technology package gives you access to features like the Panoramic View Monitor, Front-Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist and Traffic Jam Assist. The latter is a newer, hands-free feature that controls the vehicle’s steering, braking and acceleration under 25 mph with a Drive Connect subscription — and the 2025 Crown Signia comes with a one-year trial.
