The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show: Orlando, Florida

You’ve never seen a building quite like WonderWorks in Orlando. (Photo: Ian Dolphin, CC BY-NC-ND 2.0, via Flickr)
Have you ever seen someone read a mind? What about making something disappear? If you haven’t, you may want to check out Orlando’s Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show!
Tony Brent, a longtime performer who combines magic tricks with improv comedy, hosts the show. It’s designed for all ages and incorporates audience members, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself on stage! You can find the show at WonderWorks, which is a destination in its own right. The building is designed to look like it’s been turned upside down! Once you return right side-up, you get to explore the hands-on “Wonder Zones,” a glow in the dark ropes course, laser tag and more.

Sunset cruise: Clearwater, Florida

Experience the beauty of the sun setting as you sail the Gulf of Mexico.
Clearwater has plenty of bars and clubs. But before you go out on the town, how about a sunset cruise?
One of the most popular options is from Tropics Boat Tours, which starts at Clearwater Bay, passes through Clearwater Pass and explores the Gulf of Mexico. The crew will explain fun facts about the Gulf Coast and highlight popular shoreline sights. While enjoying the view, you can buy drink packages and snacks onboard.
The cruise includes a complimentary sunset champagne toast. And if you’re lucky, you may even see the green flash — an optical rarity caused by the atmosphere filtering sunlight into different frequencies. Green refracts more than other colors, so you can see it for a moment after the rest of the sun has dipped below the horizon!

Savannah Smiles Dueling Pianos Bar: Savannah, Georgia

Historic River Street and downtown Savannah, as seen from the Savannah River.
There’s nothing quite like live music — and Savannah Smiles Dueling Pianos Bar in Savannah knows it.
The venue is exactly what it sounds like: a place where two or more piano players duke it out by playing a wide range of requested songs and mixing the notes with humor. The shows last six hours straight, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.!
While enjoying the show, you can munch on anything from a grilled cheese sandwich and tater tots to egg rolls and chicken parmesan. The menu also includes an impressive selection of bourbon, tequila, beer, wine and house cocktail options.

The Collins Bar: Birmingham, Alabama

The sun sets over downtown Birmingham.
The Collins Bar in Birmingham is probably the only bar you’ll ever find with an enormous periodic table of elements behind the counter.
That — plus the wall art of glass beakers — isn’t by accident. The Collins Bar is staffed with expert mixologists, well-versed in the chemistry of their drinks. In fact, the bar doesn’t even have a menu. You just ask the bartender what you’re in the mood for, even if it isn’t an established drink, and they’ll mix it on the spot.
And even though some bars don’t have food, The Collins Bar does. You can share smaller bites like mixed nuts and house Chex Mix or get a cheeseburger or gyro all to yourself. The bar also serves several kinds of hot dogs, from a chili dog to a slaw dog to the “special” dog.

The view of Greenville as seen from Falls Park.

This is a venue where you’ll find plenty of things to do. Line up for wacky mini-golf, axe throwing, duckpin bowling, a multi-sport simulator, digital darts, ping pong, and more! Group Therapy Pub and Playground even has trivia and karaoke nights, if that’s more your speed.
