For nearly 100 years, Kelley Blue Book has delved into the car market to decide which vehicles are best for consumers. And this year, one brand stood out among the rest – Toyota.
Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com named 2022 Toyota models this year’s Best Resale Value compared to all other brands for the fifth time in six years. That’s because of our “stellar record of reliability” and high-demand, trustworthy models. And as something that may affect customers who buy or lease, resale value matters.
Wondering which Toyotas are the best of the best for resale value? Thankfully, Kelley Blue Book answered this question too. Here’s a look at which Toyota models won the highest honors — and why they were deemed worthy.
2022 Toyota Tundra
After 15 years, the Toyota Tundra received a powerful redesign in 2022. Its most unique new feature is its two powertrains, both V6 engines that can be gasoline-powered or hybrid. Also new is the Capstone model, Toyota’s first premium pickup. It comes standard with advanced towing technology, 22-inch alloy wheels, a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen, a moonroof, a 12-speaker JBL audio system, and more.
Kelley Blue Book said it best: “The Tundra wants to be your family’s everyday adventure vehicle.”
2022 Toyota Tacoma
This isn’t Tacoma’s first ride in the park. In fact, it’s been named a top resale value vehicle for more than a decade. This year’s Toyota Tacoma is performance-driven, capable of towing up to 6,800 pounds, and available in a fuel-efficient V6. The Tacoma also has three Toyota Racing Development models, which offer off-roading options like Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Select. The Tacoma Trail Special Edition comes with Kevlar-reinforced tires, a 120-volt power outlet, and a storage bed that can be locked and drained.
“The promise of off-road adventures and the reassurance of making it home afterward has a timelessness about it,” Kelley Blue Book noted about the Tacoma.
2022 Toyota 4Runner
Trucks aren’t the only vehicle built for off-roading. So is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner — and like its siblings, it also placed in this year’s Best Resale Value Top 10 list at No. 6. Its predicted resale value is 58.6% five years after purchase.
Chief among the 4Runner’s accomplishments is its ruggedness: its narrow body and high ground clearance can handle everything from gravel roads to rock climbing. It can also tow 5,000 pounds, making sure you can take a camper with you on your adventures. And no matter where you go, your safety is paramount. The 4Runner is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense P, a series of automatic safety features tailored for mid-size and large vehicles.
“If you appreciate the old-school, truck-like charms of the capable 4Runner, then there’s nothing else quite like it,” Kelley Blue Book said.
2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Top 10 list isn’t its only measure of value-retaining vehicles. The organization also names cars in separate vehicle categories — and the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid was the only hybrid compact SUV on the “Trucks, EVs, and Minivans” list. Its predicted resale value is 50.1% five years after purchase.
With a 4-cylinder engine and two lithium-ion battery motors, a full gas tank on the RAV4 Hybrid can last up to 580 miles. Also standard is Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive, giving you greater command over the vehicle no matter the weather or road conditions.
But comfort comes with convenience, too. Your legs won’t cramp in the spacious interior, and fold-down back seats create about 70 cubic feet of storage. That’s enough to fit 15 large moving boxes!
There’s a reason Toyota is known as a “pioneer of hybrid technology as well as a pillar of hybrid manufacturing,” Kelley Blue Book said. The RAV4 Hybrid is a perfect example.
2022 Toyota Sienna
Like the 2022 Toyota Tundra, the Toyota Sienna underwent a massive redesign last year. Every Sienna model is now a hybrid, and some even feature all-wheel drive, a rare sight for minivans. The Sienna Woodland Edition offers raised suspension, roof rails, and a tow hitch for the camping-inclined. And you don’t have to worry about space either, because the 2022 Toyota Sienna can carry seven or eight people, depending on the model.
As Kelley Blue Book said, “The 2022 Sienna is an excellent family vehicle. It might just be cool enough, too.”
